Sometimes the event passed so long ago, you just don’t feel like publishing them anymore but then felt it’s kinda waste not to do so and so you decide to go ahead – it’s this case today. I got really busy for the past weeks with many things in life.
Anyway, here’s a short cap of the Canon EOS 500D Media Launch. 😀 And yes, Simon Yam was there! Those of you from the US or any other part of the world that’s not close or near Asia, you probably don’t even have an inkling on who this dude is.
The Event
The launch was held at Traders Hotel’s The Skybar.
As usual, events as such come with presentation slides and videos, and also speech from key people. In this event, Mr Liew Sip Chon, President & CEO was there to give a short opening speech.
The crowd on the other hand, seem to be more interested in Simon Yam than the 500D. (Seriously, it’s a 500D! Entry level with HD Video recording ability. That vs Simon Yam!)
Shortly after the speech, in comes the 2 stars of the event – the Canon EOS 500D and Simon Yam, the person to carry it.
Of course there were plenty of photo opportunity as the crowd goes wherever Simon goes (ironically, more attention on him than the camera. Wait, I thought I said that earlier……).
Oh yeah, that’s the signature Simon Yam pose, albeit an ironic one since it’s always a camera with a battery grip being held not at the grip. WTH!?!?
Here’s Simon Yam with a piece of the photo among the many that he’ll have on display at Ant Gallery, Mutiara Damansara.
Then there’s the group photo of the 4 key people at the event.
Yes la, yes la. Got girls la. Aiyoh………… always want to see girls only ah? 😛 *No, no close ups or anything this time. Lazy to take already.*
There are even girls in swimsuits! Wahhh so shiok ah? Wah eh goldfries never call you to go see see ah? 😛 You guys expecting Baywatch babes there? LOL, get real – actually it’s a rhythmic swimming performance, done by some young girls (sorry la. I don’t know where they’re from!)
This is also for Simon to use the EOS 500D to take HD Video recording of the performance.
I never got to see how the video output was like, neither did they show the final result of the recording.
Anyway, in the end I do get my mugshots of Simon Yam. 🙂
My Thoughts
I did manage to get my hands on an EOS 500D later that day and it felt pretty much like the 450D. Just the same feel but with video capabilities and some upgrade here and there. I can’t comment much detail on it yet either, pricing seems to be pretty steep where you could get an EOS 40D with just a little bit more.
I also hope Simon learns to use the battery grip too, it doesn’t look professional la holding like that. 😀
ROFL! Indeed, I also noticed he wasn’t holding the grip. 😛
Anyway, I’ve to also agree on LY I saw to get a 40D kit was only RM100 more than the 500D. ROFL!
my images is nice, canon eos 500d the new dslr digic 4
the Canon 500D would be a direct competitor with the Nikon D90. Currently, i own an EOS450D and i want to upgrade to 500D so that i can take HD videos.
no way man, the 500D is never the direct competitor to D90. the closest it could ever compare to is the D5000. D90 is a different class.
Wow! Nice Canon 500d.
Those swimsuit girls were me and my friends! We are from KL team. We were performing synchronized swimming on that day.
Wahh good performance that day. 😀 No chance to get your faces when in water though.
