Have a house and want to extend your network reach? Look no further, the D-Link PowerLine AV500 should work just fine for you.
In this PowerLine AV500 kit priced at RM 165 you get 2 units and all you need to do is place them at the power socket that’s closest to where you want it to be. The D-Link PowerLine AV500 Starter Kit comes with a few RJ-45 cables, in case you need them to connect to other networking devices such as hub, switch or router.
Both PowerLine AV500 adapter comes with pass-through for electricity and comes with RJ-45 (LAN) port. I like adapters as such where it allows electricity pass-through, it not then an adapter ends up taking one power socket.
User Experience
Plug and play is sufficient, and once the communication link is established – you’re done! It’s that simple.
Below is the test result on my 30M/10M broadband connection – I’m on my work PC that’s connected to an ASUS Router that’s link to the AV500 adapter, while on the other end is another AV500 that’s linked to another D-Link router that is connected to the modem.
The Verdict
D-Link PowerLine AV500 Starter Kit (DHP-P309AV) retails at RM 165, it comes in a pair and works without requiring any user interaction. I like that it’s compact and easy to use and that it comes as a pair.
