Not everyone’s home setup has the luxury of using powerline adapters so a device like the D-Link AC2600 comes in handy.
The D-Link AC2600 is huge, almost the size of a shoe and thus making it a cumbersome and difficult to squeeze into tight spaces.
It is understandable on why the product is of such a size, the D-Link AC2600 is as the name indicates – having AC2600 allows it to provide high-speed network connectivity while not forgetting it also has MIMO technology that allows multiple antenna to work simultaneously to provide high speed and reduce transfer errors.

User Experience
Setting up the D-Link AC2600 is easy, all you have to do is hop on to the Wi-Fi signal and enter the setup page. Configure the D-Link AC2600 to connect to your existing Wi-Fi setup and create a new Wi-Fi SSID and you’re done.
Being an Extender, what it does is that it expands the coverage of your existing network. Put it in a more simple term, it acts like a middle person. By providing stronger network signal, you are now to get faster Internet connection
Here’s what it looks like with and without using the extender, my main “Wi-Fi” signal is located on the upper floor of my residence while the D-Link AC2600 is placed at the lower floor at the socket closest to the main signal.
You get what you paid for – the D-Link AC5600 might be a device that connects wirelessly but it delivers as if you are using the network right next to the modem itself.
The Verdict
Retailing at RM 530, the D-Link AC2600 Wi-Fi Range Extender (DAP-1860) isn’t cheap but I guess RM 530 isn’t that much to pay if you have a family and you want to provide everyone around the house the best possible coverage. 🙂 The only down side of this device is that it’s huge, as in really huge! It’s so huge, you can even use it for self-defense, like say beating up a cockroach.
