As with the title, this is a very short article to inform you of AMD’s latest naming convention for their RX series graphics card.
One thing I wish to highlight is that you should lower your expectation. For example AMD’s Fury X (and the green camp’s GTX 980 Ti, GTX 1070 and GTX 1080) could barely deliver sufficient framerates for 4K UHD gaming so if ever the RX 490 does appear, expect it to be best only for 1440P.
The same goes to the RX 480, it’s a great card for 1080P resolution gaming but going for 1440P would be quite a stretch, needless to say that the RX 470 would be for 1080P at most.
NOTE that on the presentation slide, AMD specifically mentioned games like DOTA2 and League of Legends, those aren’t demanding games that even onboard GPU could run them quite well, in fact I use an R7 250 1GB GDDR5 for League of Legends at FUll HD with maxed out details and it runs over 100 frames per second.
