I was pleasantly surprised to see this when I opened a new tab on Google’s Chrome browser.
The link leads to https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/devices/
Lo and behold, the Chromebook ……….. not one, but MANY!!!
The one that caught my interest is the one from Acer that goes as cheap as USD $199!!!!
As you browse the site, there’s 2 other higher priced models that are not shown on the slide show.
Take note that the 100GB Google Drive space is a 2 year deal, in which you’ll have to renew after the 2 years is over.
Apparently all of them come with Dual-core Intel® Celeron® Processor. The Acer unit has 320 GB Hard Disk Drive but the highest spec Samsung unit has 16GB Solid State Drive.
Would you go for speed or space? I think 16GB SSD is pretty limiting, considering even my mobile device has 16GB and you pretty much could fill up easily.
Nevertheless, all this are interesting offers. Unfortunately the offer is currently only available at Netherlands, United States, United Kingdom and France. 🙁 BOOHOO!!!!! Damn it Google!!! 😛 Looks like I’ll have to order from Newegg Malaysia.
Who in their right mind would trust a computer with an operating system designed by Google? You are completely at the mercy of a third party with respect to your privacy.
So called ‘cloud stores’ are just a mechanism devised to extract money from you a little bit a time over a long period of time.
