User Experience & Benchmarks
The My Passport Ultra works no different from any USB drive, just plug it to a USB port and you’re good to use it once your operating system identifies the device. Make sure to connect it to a USB 3.0 port to attain best available transfer speed.
Here’s what the transfer rate looks like as I transfer files to and from the WD My Passport Ultra Metal Edition, there’s also the gold colored variant that’s called the WD My Passport Ultra Anniversary Edition.
The ATTO benchmark software validates the above graphs, the transfer rate maxed out at around 110 Mb per second which is very fast. Just how fast is fast? Fast enough for you to playback high-definition movies from the drive itself.
The WD My Passport Ultra Metal Edition 2TB retails for RM 389 while the 1TB version retails for RM 259. The Anniversary Edition retails for RM 399 and RM 269 for 2TB and 1TB variants respectively.
Not only does the WD My Passport Ultra look good, they come with 3-years warranty and also WD’s excellent backup / restore software too.
