Want to upgrade your gaming setup and don’t want to blow the budget? Check out Gamdias Hermes E1 Gaming Combo that retails at just RM 269 – a package that offers a mechanical keyboard, an optical mouse, a mouse pad and a wrist-rest. Not bad, right?
Starting off with the review, let’s have a look at the keyboard as it is the hero of the package. The Hermes E1 is a full sized mechanical keyboard with red color LED backlight.
Here’s what it looks like with the RGB backlight on, there are 3 levels of brightness and a breathing mode.
The case of the keyboard leaves the stem of the keys visible, pretty much like what you see on many mechanical keyboard these days. It also looks more impressive once the light is lit.
This model that I’m reviewing comes with blue switch, there’s no indicator of what model it is but it certainly doesn’t feel like a Cherry MX. Key caps on this board are alright, it works fine and I have no issues with the keyboard as a whole. The keyboard has 21-key rollover and is also capable of Macro recording, having 256Kb on-board memory.
On the under side the keyboard comes with single angle adjustment, rubber paddings, it comes with cable routing path and also a key-cap remover placed right underneath, nice touch Gamdias!
The package comes with wrist rest as well, so if you’re the type that prefers to have some elevation at the wrist then this is definitely good news for you.
Moving on next on the Gamdias Hermes E1 Gaming Combo is the Demeter E2 mouse. The default DPI is at 1200 and it goes up to 3200, it has 125Hz polling rate and the life cycle is rated to be at 1 million.
Here’s another view of the Demeter E2 mouse.
The mouse has breathing backlights but it’s not RGB customizable.
As for the feet, they’re quite tiny which is something I’d prefer not to have.
Lastly we have the smooth surfaced NYX E1 Mouse pad of which I have nothing to add.
My take on the mouse however is that it’s towards the lower quality side of things, definitely not a mouse I’d use for gaming purpose but for a general purpose mouse I’d say it’s passable. What I noted was that the left and right mouse buttons are different in click and they required a little more pressure to press than what I like for a mouse.
The Verdict
The Gamdias Hermes E1 Gaming Combo retails at RM 269, the package is good and the only flaw to me in this package is the mouse of which I believe could be a little better when it comes to the button quality. Do remember to check out the official product page for more details.
