FSP just released a new range of power supply under the name Hyper. It’s an affordable range of power supply with high efficiency and medium range power delivery.
From the box you’ll see that it has a 5-year warranty and is claimed to be of 85% power efficiency. Note – this is not an 80Plus certification.
Here’s the PSU right from the package.
The unit comes with FSP’s signature sticker placement, as you can see the cables are sleeved.
For the air intake, FSP went with the traditional fan grille instead of cut-outs from the casing.
The unit comes with a good set of cables, plenty of SATA and 4-pin Molex, and even 2 sets of 8+8 pin PCI-E cables. 🙂 That doesn’t mean you should hook it up to multiple high-end GPUs, we’ll talk about this a bit later.
Here’s the power delivery table, as you can see it’s a dual rail 12V unit delivering 30A on each rail with a total of 540W. While the dual PCI-E 8+8 pin cable is a great addition, I think you should just use one set of it and keep the other set as a spare. It’s a budget PSU and it’s not be a good idea to push it.
I’ve been using it over the weeks on my setup with an R9 280X with no hiccups whatsoever.
No links to the official product page as the product is still very new and there doesn’t seem to be a product page for it at the moment.
The Verdict
The FSP Hyper 600W Power Supply Unit retails at RM 249, it has 5-year warranty and is claimed to be with 85% power efficiency. If RM 250 is the maximum cap for your budget then this could be the PSU for you.
If you could stretch the budget a little further, I recommend the 80Plus Silver certified FSP Raider 650W.
