AVF Gaming Freak has been around the gaming scene for quite a while now, they offer affordable gaming solutions and while I’ve seen their mice over the years I’ve never actually used them nor was I ever impressed by them until the model here, one with an absolutely long name that I hate to type it – AVF Gaming Freak Wild Evolution Survivor Task.
Lo and behold, it is the Wild Evolution Survivor Task …… I would prefer to just call it WEST. It is a beautiful looking mouse and the one with me here is the red colored model.
As you can see the DPI buttons and the side buttons are chrome, hopefully they don’t fade after wear and tear but from my experience with chrome finish they always do. The WEST here is ambidextrous in design but the shortcut buttons are only on the left side.
At the bottom are reasonable placed and spaced mouse feet that’s good to go to support the mouse’s shape and movement.
The WEST comes with braided cables.
That aside one of the beauty of the WEST is that it comes with RGB lighting and the lighting streaks across from the mouse wheel area towards the sides.
Lastly, the WEST uses Avago sensor and works up to 3200 DPI. Below are the features highlighted at the back of the packaging.
User Experience
A mouse is an important part of any computer setup, whether it’s for work or play. Mice like those from Zowie for example are finely crafted that it works even without having any software. As for other mice, there’s always the software to enhance the user experience, however there are times when the software is so bad you wonder why they made it in the first place.
For the Wild Evolution Survivor Task (Just a quick reminder of its name) software suite is complete and fully functional, the mouse works out of the box without using the software but the software allows you more customization like shortcut, RGB light behavior and setting.
Have a color of your choice? Sure, go ahead and set them through the software.
I tried the WEST on Overwatch and I game fine on it, whether it’s a suitable mouse for anyone now very much depends on preference in design and ergonomics. I do not have any bad experience over the design nor button function.
The Verdict
The AVF Gaming Freak Wild Evolution Survivor Task Optical Gaming Mouse retails at RM 89, perhaps one of, if not the best value for money package out there when it comes to gaming mice. Great stuff from AVF Gaming Freak, and I hope to see even more great stuff from them in the future.
