The PCI-E x16 slots look great as always, and having 2 PCI-E worth of gap is good for GPU cooling.

Oh look! PS/2 port included! That aside, the board comes with KeyBot feature and it only works with the USB ports under the PS/2 port.

User Experience

To me, the ROG board is all about overclocking. I’ve used quite a number of Z87 boards with my Intel Core i5-4670K and I’ve never once got it to run stable at 4.4Ghz – this wasn’t the case with the Ranger.

With a little tweak here and there, I managed to run my processor at 4.4Ghz and it even completed my video encoding test! Was I amazed? Yes, I am.

I feel that the BIOS / UEFI interface from ASUS is still the best, I got into getting the settings I want for the processor with far less hassle compared to some other brands.

One of my favorite features on this board is the KeyBot, check out the video I made.

The Verdict

For RM 799 – you get a feature rich board that’s also great for overclocking. If you’re an ASUS Maximus Formula board user then this might not be the board for you but for the “not so picky overclocker” like myself, this board is lovely!
