I thought I give the HD 7750 CFX setup a try, considering the card is quite cheap, has low power consumption and could possibly be a decent setup.

Observation
Benchmarks aside, let’s look at the current pricing for these products. *This is NOT an ASUS Advertorial, it just that ASUS has been very supportive. Comparison done with ASUS product to get a more accurate picture. Cross-brand comparison could stray the comparison quite a fair bit as HD 7750 cards can be acquired for RM 370 or lower.
ASUS HD 7750 – RM 440 | 55w
ASUS HD 7770 – RM 590 | 80w
ASUS HD 7870 – RM 1200 | 175w
Running a HD 7750 CFX setup will set you back RM 880 or so, the power consumption will be around 110w. That’s running at 73% the cost of the HD 7870, operating at 62% of the HD 7870’s power consumption, and getting about 73% of the HD 7870’s performance. Not exactly an attractive setup, the average performance is scales exactly with the price. Do note that some games scale better than others, and from what I tried with COD:MW3, The game ran at HD 7750 speed when CFX was enabled. ๐ I haven’t found out the detail but it only goes to show that CFX is not without hiccups.
The price vs performance ratio for the HD 7750 CFX isn’t as good as a single HD 7770 either, considering you pay a lot more but the performance gain isn’t something to shout about.
Conclusion
The HD 7750 CFX setup isn’t something worth considering. Looking at the benchmarks, I think the HD 7770 CFX setup should perform quite well against the HD 7870 but an even better option could be the HD 7850. ๐
*Other possibilities – get a lesser brand HD 7750, CFX and overclock it. It could be better value for money but it’s still a gamble. Maybe I should give it a try? ๐
Yup i’ve already have two of them. And the performance is not that good as the review on other site. I was really disappointed to go to this direction since with the same price + $20 more you could get gtx 660 which is beast on every title.
