Bloggers with Business Card

blogger business card

I remember reading Danny’s article “Should Bloggers have Business Cards?” about half a year ago.

It was an interesting thought but at that time, goldfries.com was barely 2 months old. In fact, I never thought that less than 6 months down the road that I would have a business card for goldfries.com!

Without A Business Card

When I met up with my first potential sponsor, it felt so awkward that I’m giving my company business card instead of my blog business card. So it’s like, what am I promoting? My business? No, I wasn’t. In fact, it does indirectly promote my business entity a little but then it adds to the confusion. Who will they be sponsoring? Emoticon

First Impression Counts!

Impression is important, everyone knows that. Unfortunately, after meeting up with so many potential sponsors I’m still giving my company business card. Sure, the blog could stand on it’s own but the owner looks pretty pathetic. Emoticon

blogger business cardIt felt so odd to have to write my GOLDFRIES on my company business card, it also makes my nice company business card ugly (*I have ugly hand-writing* )

It felt awkward when people gave me a confused expression when they see the business card being, a card that’s totally different from the blog. Emoticon

And if you think about it, if someone was to rummage through their stacks of business cards for goldfries - they’ll probably miss it.

Things Begin To Make Sense

Finally I decide to get my business card printed. If I’m meeting more sponsors in 2008, I might as well make myself look better! Right? Emoticon

So now, here am I - Brian with a stack of goldfries.com business card! Emoticon

Yup! I’m now officially a Blogger with Business Card

What Do I Think?

I don’t think bloggers need to have a business card unless their blog placed them in a situation where having a business card would leave a better impression.

If you think your blogging endeavours require a business card, then by all means - go ahead! It doesn’t cost much but when the time comes, it’ll add to all your first impressions.

In your case, yes, bloogers should have a business card.

In my case, no. I have no plans to monetize my blog yet, don’t think sponsors will find my blog attractive enough.

    Funny story-
That day I was arranging my stack of business cards and there are a few of them I don’t remember where’s it from. Your card was one of them Emoticon Then I remembered.

I wrote goldfries on your orange dot card Emoticon

Justin is one of the person I met in the events I attended, and yup! one of the poor souls that got my company business card. Emoticon

See? A clear example of what happens when I go around without having a proper business card for my blog!

Justin, remind me to give you my blog business card the next time we meet. Emoticon

Was this in the entry previously? I might have missed it. For the record, I didn’t make up the story after reading the line above. It really happened!

Brian, as long as your number and address doesn’t change, you don’t have to give me a new card. Save it for your business prospects. Give me you’ll be wasting your money only Emoticon Besides, I have goldries written (BIG) on your name card, I’ll never get confused again Emoticon

P.S. I get a lot of referrals from your blog to mine from your ASUS Eee PC entry. Long (funny) story. Will tell you about it. PM me your MSN in lowyat and we’ll chat. Emoticon

    Thanks for the linkback. Emoticon

I actually helped ireneQ do her business cards awhile back. For her, it was coinciding with her blog as a writer.

@justin - that phrase was there all the while.

@danny - hey, no problem with the linkback. Emoticon good articles deserve them. *yes, this shows i remember your article!*

I don’t think my food blog needs a business card now lawl. Well not until it has reached the unique visitor count that I am targeting

  7. Gravatar at goldfries.com goldfries said :

Why not? Surely you have people to give to, right?

Don’t let visitors be the determining factor, I think your visitor is higher than mine. More people that are into food than tech. Emoticon

Went to a blogger gathering today, handed out many of my cards. Emoticon I met Danny there and a many others.

Haha, maybe I’m one of the few that first received goldie’s card? Emoticon

Sponsors eh? Cool. Business cards do come in handy by then.

Yup, looking forward for more to come!

Offline advertorial of your blog is good to attract more visitors.

  13. Gravatar at goldfries.com goldfries said :

Advertorial? I sense a mis-used term there but I do get the point. Emoticon Imagine going through the list of business cards and “oh hey, I’ve not paid a visit to goldfries.com for quite a while!”

  14. Gravatar at goldfries.com Justin Koh said :

I don’t have to visit goldfries.com. I have you in my RSS. Emoticon

Anyway, you are the second blogger I know that has a namecard for their blog. The first was Nicole Tan from nicolekiss.blogspot.com. hehe.

Now I am thinking of doing up my card just for fun. Only about RM30 per box right?

But I need a design. Will be bugging my designer on Monday.

  15. Gravatar at goldfries.com goldfries said :

Ahh. That’s a high profile blogger!

It’s alright to do for fun, it may turn out to be serious business.

  16. Gravatar at goldfries.com Justin Koh said :

Yeah, high profile blogger. She’s on The Star’s Metro section today, or rather yesterday.

I know her personally (avoiding the term “personal friend”). We studied in England last time.

Anyway, yeah, it’s ok to do it for fun (in my case) but I doubt my blog will turn into something like yours. You have two sections, tech and your personal blog. Mine is just rojak. Everything into one.

Maybe I’ll do something like yours, and make some money out of it. Money is never enough for everyone! Will be thinking over it seriously when I’m done with my assignments.

  17. Gravatar at goldfries.com goldfries said :

Yes, I saw her on the newspaper too. Emoticon

    And don’t doubt! Must try!

  18. Gravatar at goldfries.com Cyrus said :

eh, RM30 per box? How many cards per box? (its actually cheaper than I thought…)

Maybe I should get myself a box too Emoticon

  19. Gravatar at goldfries.com goldfries said :

RM 25 per box also can get la. Just depends on paper type and whether you want something at the back too. I’ve been charged RM 25 - 40 before. Emoticon

  21. Gravatar at goldfries.com goldfries said :
