A mousepad that’s good and affordable! I like it! Yes, it’s a mousepad. It’s not a camera pad.
I thought I’d put a Canon EOS 70D into the picture (with lens) to show the size of the mouse pad. Hrmmm maybe I should’ve used a soda can or something instead.
The mousepad is 440 x 320 x 2 mm in dimension. Overall, good rough texture to it. I tried gaming with my SteelSeries Ikari mouse, movement was smooth.
The website says it has a “Uniquely designed base offers increased stability on any surface” – well, it’s smelly out of the box – a rather disturbing plastic smell but it goes off after awhile. 😛 You’ll probably smell it again once you flip the mousepad.
One thing I am concerned off, is the edge around the mousepad. I like to have my mousepad placed right to the corner of the table so I do hope not to have any blister. Nevertheless I had quite a few hours of gaming session with it so far, doesn’t hurt one bit.
More details at the official product page.
The Verdict
It’s priced at RM 120 (approx 40 USD), you can get it from ExtremeGear. 🙂 Good and affordable, In fact I wish that they have a smaller version at half the price.
RM120 for a 440 x 320 x 2 mm mousepad you called it affordable ? What a joke.
So your measure of value is based on dimension alone? I see.
lol. 120 is an affordable price for that size(its HUGE). obviously some people aren’t used to using gaming mats and cannot appreciate a good mousepad when they find one. i absolutely love my everglides that i got YEARS ago. paid RM80 for medium sized one as i dont have the space for a large pad. still works wonders.
I have no idea how you managed to review this with little background of the market.
I own 2 Zowie G-TFs good product but you have mentioned absolutely nothing about how this is a hardpad not a standard clothpad nor the differences.
Even big names such as Steelseries and Razer sell mats at almost half a meter wide at 70 rm (razer goliathus) and 65 (Steelseries Qck+)
Movement was smooth? Anyone can say that, but you failed to mention how that the result will be dependant on the mouse feet type (flat, pointed, etc) since this is as said before a hard mat. The adjective ‘smooth’ is terribly vague when we’re talking about friction and different materials, if you are not going to compare it to other products in market then explain what you mean by this ‘smooth’ . I can buy a piece of cloth and call it ‘smooth’
Measure of value? The main difference to spend more money on this is if you are a fan of hardpads but have some want for the friction or rather consistent stops provided by that of a cloth mousemat, this material was designed for that purpose. Full out hard mats would cost more and some people favour them when using laser sensors on their mice.
By no means is this a bad product, Heck even I own this (along with several other pieces of gear) but don’t make it seem like an ad for a product with buyer’s bias.
You can write better, if you have this many fans on this site I’m pretty sure you can.
Well, I like my articles to be simple but perhaps it went not too well with this one.
I appreciate your feedback very much, thank you. In my case, the Steelseries Ikari I’m using has large feet.
The idea of smooth here is in line with the “rough texture” part that I mentioned. Yes, it’s a hardmat, compared to my SteelSeries Fnatic cloth pad that feels a lot smoother to the touch. The idea to get across is that a pad that’s rougher on touch doesn’t mean it’s rougher on actual usage.
An outstanding share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a colleague who had been doing a little homework on this.
And he in fact bought me lunch simply because I found it for him…
lol. So allow me to reword this…. Thank YOU for the meal!!
