The MasterBox 5 looks simple from the outside, in fact it looks pretty average but on the insides it’s pretty awesome, the MasterBox 5 is absolutely spacious.
The MasterBox 5 comes with a huge opening on the motherboard tray, the exhaust mount at the back fits only 120mm though.
Towards the front there are plenty of room for drives, at the top the MasterBox 5 caters 5.25″ drives, 2.5″ drive trays at the middle while the bottom tray holds 3.5″ drives. All of them are removable. My only complaint is that the 2.5″ drive trays are placed too near the front, drives on the tray would end up too close to the mounting point for fans.
That aside, I also wish that they included rubber grommets to cover the openings. Not forgetting also that the fan on the MasterBox 5 was mounted with some “use once only” pin, my favorite fan mount is like those found on Cooler Master’s .
Here’s another of the 2.5″ driver tray and 3.5″ drive cages. And what’s that, a PSU cover? Yes it is.
The MasterBox 5 comes with a PSU cover, a neat add-on that helps with cable management.
On the other side of the motherboard tray you’ll see that the casing is SPACIOUS, it’s so spacious I had to go capital letters.
Here’s a lower angle view, the gap is even wider at the PSU’s level.
The Verdict
The MasterBox 5 retails at RM 399, an awesome product from Cooler Master – one that’s affordable and spacious. And just how much can you mod it? Here’s my mod for the MasterBox 5.
Need I say more? I love the MasterBox 5 very much!
