Not everyone’s accustomed to forming walls of text by tapping fingers on the on-screen keyboard and I believe those are the people Logitech had in mind and thus created the K480.
Out of the box the Logitech K480 Bluetooth Multi-Device Keyboard looks like some toy from Toys’R’Us and it certainly feels like one too, it’s made of plastic and it doesn’t have a premium feel to it, fortunately it doesn’t feel cheap either and I can best describe it as a medium-grade plastic toy based on the look and feel alone.
The keyboard comes with a 5-step instruction sticker placed on the keyboard for easy setup.
On the side the keyboard comes with a dial that allows you to switch between devices, it supports up to 3 devices. It works with both Android and iOS devices, smartphones and tablets alike.
Here’s what it looks like with a 7″ tablet.

User Experience
While the build quality isn’t something to shout about, what I like about the keyboard is how it’s easy to setup. I got it paired to my devices without any hiccup and switching among devices was never an issue as well.
The Logitech K480 is quite heavy, coming in at some 820 grams which is enough for you to use it as a shield or weapon if need. 😀 Well the purpose of having such a weight is for it to not topple when handling larger sized tablets, after all tapping on screen is still necessary.
The keyboard is large and comfortable to touch and the communication between keyboard and device is pretty quick, it may lag a little with the initial key presses but nevertheless it gets the job done.
One thing to note that the Logitech K480 is best used on larger sized tablets, I recommend going with something around 10″ or larger. 7″ tablets and smaller sized devices like smartphones quite defeat the purpose of having this keyboard as you’ll be hunching your back like the Hunchback of Notre Dame as you squint away at the small screen. One way to go about this is to have your device connecting to a display screen via MHL cable but this requires the screen to support such input.
The Verdict
Logitech K480 Bluetooth Multi-Device Keyboard retails at RM 169, it’s a great device for those who are on the go and prefers to work on their tablets instead of a notebook. The device is heavy and that takes a hit when it comes to mobility but it’s necessary in order to support placement on tablet on the dock.
