Hitting the stores now is the latest range of Savage SSD from HyperX and at goldfries’ lab we have the 240GB unit and I must say it’s an SSD that’s packaged like no other.
Sitting inside the solid packaging is the HyperX Savage SSD – no plastic cover, no foam cover, just the drive firmly tucked into the cutout of the foam padding.
Underneath the holding piece lies a bunch of other goodies, by the way this is an upgrade-kit and that’s where HyperX’s generosity comes in. 😀 Whatever you need to get your spanking new drive on the system, the tools are all in place.

What exactly are the contents? Here they are.
Here are some details of the HyperX Savage SSDs, the fastest of HyperX’s SATA-based SSD – 7mm form factor drives powered by a quad-core, 8-channel Phison S10 controller that delivers incredible speeds of up to 560MB/s read and 530MB/s write, with read/write IOPS up to 100k/89k. It also comes with a Three-year warranty and free technical support.
The HyperX Savage 240GB SSD underwent the following tests
In reference to the official product page, the unit performed as expected for tests like CrystalDiskMark and ATTO, to only fall short just slightly behind the mark on AS-SSD.
The HyperX Savage SSDs are priced as follows – 120GB ($83.99), 240GB ($139.99), 480GB ($279.99), and 960GB ($559.99). Upgrade kit comes at just a $10 increase for any capacity.
It’s not the cheapest of SSD but the drive is certainly a looker and it performs great too. Being HyperX, you know that you’re in good hands as they’re the veterans when it comes to Memory-based products (READ : Kingston) and you get 3-years warranty, not forgetting free technical support!
