You’ve heard of many products from Gigabyte like Graphic cards, Motherboards and Notebooks, even Keyboards and Mice but Compact PC Kit?
Gigabyte has 5 types of BRIX Ultra Compact PC Kit, they are the
– BRIX
– BRIX s
– BRIX Gaming
– BRIX Pro
– BRIX Projector
The unit here is under the BRIX Pro range, meant for professional purpose.
Here’s how small it is where compared to a phone and a figurine.
The design is sleek with fine edges and lines across, at the front there are only 2 USB 3.0 ports and an SPDIF / Audio output port.
At the back there’s 2 additional USB 3.0 port, a LAN (RJ45) port, Mini DisplayPort, HDMI output and power connector.
With the chassis opened, the BRIX Pro shows quite some goodies there like the IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi / Bluetooth 4.0 Mini-PCIe card and also 2x 4GB Kingston DDR3 SODIMM with Elpida chips.
Need additional space for storage? Sure, why not?
The Intel Core i7 that powers the BRIX Pro is cooled by a copper heatsink and a turbine fan.
The Gigabyte BRIX Pro is powered by 135w Power Adapter by FSP.
Included as part of the package is the VESA mounting bracket (75 x 75mm + 100 x 100mm).

User Experience
The product is small and simple, easy to setup and looks great on the table.
With the Intel® Irisâ„¢ Pro graphics 5200, the BRIX Pro is certainly not gaming capable. With Intel® Coreâ„¢ i7-4770R 3.90 GHz and 8GB RAM (review unit) – looks like photo and video editing would be a breeze for the BRIX Pro.
Cooling system on the BRIX Pro is sufficient, though it could get close to 100c despite the turbines spinning away.
The Verdict
The Gigabyte BRIX Pro GB-BXi7-4770R Ultra Compact PC Kit retails at around 600 USD (approx RM 2,000) – the build is solid, doesn’t consume much power and comes with Windows 8 pre-installed. It will never be your best friend in gaming but it will definitely be your work buddy, and it has no problem supporting 4K Displays too.
