I’ll keep this review short – retailing at RM 659 the ASRock X470 Master SLI/ac is the best value X470 chipset motherboard for your AMD Ryzen processor that has 3 years warranty. 🙂 Done, go buy!
As with the rest of the ASRock X470 line-up the color is fundamentally grey-scale, those like Taichi has distinct design difference in heatsink, I/O cover and board pattern but they’re are of the same color scheme.
Don’t be fooled by the affordable price, the ASRock X470 Master SLI/ac comes with 12-phase power design and 45A choke which is more than what I expect to see from a board of this range.
Around the DIMM slot area the ASRock X470 Master SLI/ac is not any different from most boards, it comes with 2x USB 3.0 output connector.
Over the other corner – 6x SATA ports, an M.2 slot and a range of pins ranging from fan connector, RGB header and the power related pins.
Moving upwards here you see the main Ultra M.2 slot that supports up to 22110 size unit and it comes with a heatsink.
The ASRock X470 Master SLI/ac also comes with 2 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots that runs at x8 / x8 when on multi-GPU setup, it supports both Nvidia SLI and AMD CrossFireX.
As for the rear I/O panel it has the following components
– 2 x Antenna Ports
– 1 x PS/2 Mouse/Keyboard Port
– 1 x HDMI Port
– 1 x Optical SPDIF Out Port
– 1 x USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A Port (10 Gb/s) (Supports ESD Protection)
– 1 x USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C Port (10 Gb/s) (Supports ESD Protection)
– 6 x USB 3.1 Gen1 Ports (Supports ESD Protection)
– 1 x RJ-45 LAN Port with LED (ACT/LINK LED and SPEED LED)
– HD Audio Jacks: Rear Speaker / Central / Bass / Line in / Front Speaker / Microphone
I think the beauty of the ASRock X470 Master SLI/ac as the name suggests, is that it comes with on-board Wi-Fi of which I think is of excellent value for a board at this price point.
The ASRock X470 Master SLI/ac works great as it is, and if you intend to tweak your AMD Ryzen processor further then the board’s UEFI interface is prepared to handle your needs, though it may not be as detailed as higher-end models but it should get you through at least the bare basics.
You can’t go wrong with the ASRock X470 Master SLI/ac – priced below RM 700, it costs far less than the Taichi models and works exactly the same if you do not utilize the additional stuff that comes along with the higher-end models.
