Petrol Price Hike Reveals Stupid People
Yes, I left home today for an evening outing and traffic jam was everywhere. It’s like all of a sudden, petrol kiosks is THE HANGOUT place to be! Was Beyonce Knowles doing striptease or something? Nah, it can’t be at every kiosk. Was it some Ipod giveaways (yes, Malaysians are generally suckers for freebies.), no way - the only freebies they gave were services like wiping your car a little here and there.

What was it? It’s THE PETROL PRICE HIKE (awww, I just realized my title gave it away earlier. ho hum). And so the new spreads earlier today - BREAKING NEWS: Petrol will be RM2.70 a litre at midnight tonight.
Whoopeee! We just had a 60% LDP toll increase for no good reasons a few years back and now we have 40% price hike for petrol. Great!
So as if the price hike wasn’t bad enough, we have stupid people. Yes, stupid. People who are “penny wise, pound foolish” so to speak.
Now let’s have a look. Petrol prices are going from RM 1.92 to RM 2.70 which is an RM 0.78 hike, around 40%. Now we’re talking about “SAVING” RM 0.78 per liter. And how many liters could each car have? And surely most of them aren’t even 95% empty, in fact most of them are probably not even half-empty!
It’s like woahh, how many liters could your car have? Even if you had 30 liters to pump, you’ll save what? RM 23? I hear some people managed to only pump RM 30 worth of petrol. That’s like 15 liters or so, which comes to around RM 11 savings.
YOU CALL THAT SAVINGS? LOL, how stupid can they be - really? Considering the amount of time spent, the hassle, the health (yes, it’s end of the day, most of them just finish work and head for the kiosk) and more importantly - how much petrol spent when those cars idle?
So we’re looking at people who could save at most RM 50 - most of them couldn’t even reach that figure, so we’re looking at savings of RM 20 or less but at what cost? TIME, HASSLE, HEALTH, POLLUTION and CONGESTION. Yes, they cause congestion and I would easily categorize them as road-hog or causing obstructions to the otherwise already badly planned traffic system.
As I mentioned, I left for my evening outing at around 7.30PM and when I was on the way home around 11.30PM - the massive pile up were still at the kiosks. A friend of mine told me he heard on radio that callers have reported cases of FIGHTS. My goodness. FIGHTS?! Over what? LOL. Well, that’s not the end of my ranting.
Up NEXT - the Goverment, why 40% increase? It could’ve been done like 10% per year or something.
And what’s the funny part is that this is ONE THING that the Government can announce and implement within 24 hours. I don’t recall anything else they could do at such speed. Strange huh? Implementation is always within 24 hours when it comes to raising price. LOL.
Well, just another day in Malaysia.

Tell me about it. Due to ’strategic’ location of petrol stations, Jln Tun Razak was clogged up both ways!!

Yeah, i agreed…Its really stupid issue…every year petrol price will raise for sure… In future, petrol price perhaps will be RM50 per litre and we have to minus our expense for electric, food, etc for petrol!!! We cant survive like that liao!

Ya, exactly,
It doesn’t worth for ppl to queue up for hours and jammed the whole traffics just to save RM20+. Luckily I was at the petrol station earlier.

I also agree with goldfries.. I wonder why they dont increase it bit by bit for the last few year.. I think because they afraid that they will lose terribly in the election campaign if they do so..

Yo goldfries, bumped in here because of your 18-200.
The sharp petrol price increase, has directly resulted in the skyrocketing inflation! This month Malaysia suffers 7.7% inflation rate, and this is the highest in some 20 years!!
