Bad English These Days?
I was lurking around Lowyat.net Forums as usual, and I came by a title that really caught my attention on how bad English can be
Vista eat how many space on your HDD?
My goodness, what ever happened to “How MUCH space does Windows Vista occupy on your HDD?”.
We are at a point where schools are ineffective in producing people who speak proper English and most people couldn’t be bothered about improving their English proficiency.
Yes, I was part of the system but thank God I made it a point to speak proper English. Mind you, I come from a Chinese school where everyone else speaks Mandarin and Hokkien. I spend my time learning English from books and whatever I can view on TV – no cable TV back then. Only a few channels and the occasional tapes and discs from the video store.
Let’s see how our ENGRAND goes in a few more years.

true mate, true!
Trying conversing with foreigne business people and get a backfire from them about our English. Absolutely shameful mate! absolutely…
Well its a disadvantage to those who doesn’t wish to advance themselve. Yet I’ve learnt a few notes from those who backfired me and told me off about my English nicely (who were mostly foreigners)
At least I’ve learnt and still need lots of improvement.
I really admire and solute those mainland Chinese people who are getting better in their English. As if they were brought up in the western countries.

Yes it was. Unfortunately Malaysians have this uncanny ability to do direct translation without ever realizing that it is NOT the way to do translation.
It’s like “you faster come now”.

Yes – English problems, an age-old issue.
Usually, direct translation happens when people don’t have much experience with the another language, so one could have used their native language to desperately translate them to English.
The best Engrand I’ve seen is… “Do Day Colse”… try to guess it…
