The Camera on Samsung SGH-L760 3G Mobile Phone!

It’s a Mobile Blogging phone! Why da heck am I talking about it’s photographic abilities?

Well that’s for me to know and for you to find out. :D

Anyway this post is to highlight the camera on this phone and to showcase how the images look like when taken from this phone.

Limited Camera Ability

The Samsung SGH-L760’s retail price is set to be around Rm 1,100 and being a 3G phone already, you can’t expect the camera ability to be great like other phones that cost like what, 30 - 50% more?

For example a Sony Ericsson K800i comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto-focus, 16x digital zoom, image stabilization, flash and so on but you don’t get any of those in the Samsung SGH-L760’s 2.0 megapixel camera.

Do remember that the camera is not the key feature of this phone.

Decent Features

The phone comes with a rear camera and a front camera. The image size of the rear camera goes up to 2.0 megapixel (1600 x 1200) while the front camera (the one facing you) goes up to only 0.3 megapixels (640 x 480). The rear camera is only usable when it is slid up, close the slid while in camera mode and you’ll be diverted to the front camera automatically.

Besides getting to alternate from the rear camera to the front camera, you get some other handy features such as shooting in burst mode (in choices of 6, 9 and 15 shots) and mosaic mode (adds patterns on the picture), then of course you can change the resolution, use timer for your shots, add effects such as Black & White, Sepia or Negative to your shots, add frames to your photos and of course - White Balance adjustments.

Picture Quality

Overall I’d say decent, it sure is an upgrade from my Sony Ericsson K500i!

Let’s take a look at some shots.

By the way, I’ve not done any post-processing on any of these shots other than resizing and sharpening.

My Thoughts

Don’t expect stellar performance from this camera, nevertheless it’s good enough for the average user who just wishes to snap some quick pictures. Using it for a blog? Not a problem at all, as you can see from the pictures above, I doubt you’ll know they were taken from a phone camera unless I tell you.

*50 cash vouchers from the organizers are waiting for their rightful owners, you could be one of them! Make sure you take the survey through my link below, ok? Thank You!
