Review : roomsDB.net – room rental in Singapore
Yes, today we’re having a look at roomsDB.net that caters for room rental in Singapore, regardless whether it’s master room, common room, hdb, condo, apartment – you name it! Everything, including the kitchen sink! What you want to rent delivered right to you, in a central repository of rooms to rent.
Despite being an already successful site, roomsDB.net has also now teamed up with advertlets.com for a new advertising scheme to reach a wider audience.
Instead of just taking my word for it about their success, you could also download a PDF version of an article on roomsDB.net published in Straight Times. Just take note that it’s the file is about 1.4MB so I shall not be responsible if your browser quits on you.
Before you think that roomsDB.net is confined only Singapore, think again because roomsDB.net is now available for Kuala Lumpur as well, just that it’s currently in a beta version (which means, you MIGHT not get full features yet but heck who cares!) Well, roomsDB.net – rent a room in KL, this is the place to be for people who’s looking for accommodations in KL.
The Interface : Yes, the actual content area, minus the ads.
roomsDB.net allows you to filter based on room types, district and even sort the order by price, size, address and so on so forth. Just mouse-over any entry and you’ll get more details from the hovering box of information.
And that’s not all, roomsDB.net comes with loads of new features like Google Maps Mashup, RSS feeds, automatic price comparison, closest MRT station search and so on so forth. Convenient isn’t it? I mean look at it, you get all the details in ONE PLACE. You can choose to get updated automatically via RSS instead of having to visit them every day hoping for something new.
While it’s a great site for it’s purpose but certainly not a good looking one.
The site is flooded with ads, something that I don’t like because it makes it very distracting and rather unpleasant to use. The interface is fine, the viewer just have to take a little time to identify which part of the page is the actual content.
For those in Singapore and KL – have fun using roomsDB.net, I’m sure it’s very useful.

why suddenly with this topic?
Do they actually make money out of this?
(I’m guessing… yes)
Online searches / directory in overseas are far better than Malaysia (well , I understand, Malaysia is move towards that pace, perhaps abit slow… and of cause because of MONEY? ?)
But the first impression, when I enter the website main page. I feel like leaving, cos its like so many ADVERTS…!! and everything looks so…
“I M blur… what should I do next… so many words????”
think’g its like some weird boring website.
Well, I’m giving a rating 5 out of 10. Despite its a good site for people who is searching for vacant rooms & etc.
The only lacking, their not applying new vision concepts like google’s map or those type on the website, so people could actually see the where abouts of the PLACE and location.
a) its useful
b) quick and precise
c) people have a brief idea.
d) errr… what else.
Am I partially correct??

This site is full with Ads only. It guess 40% of the overall page is Ads.
But overall, the idea is good which help ppl find room. Last few years, there is a similar product from local group – RoomMart.com.my. End up, this is a failure project due to no maintenance. Perhaps, RoomsDB.net could substain for longer
