Bad English These Days?

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

I was lurking around Lowyat.net Forums as usual, and I came by a title that really caught my attention on how bad English can be

Vista eat how many space on your HDD?

My goodness, what ever happened to “How MUCH space does Windows Vista occupy on your HDD?”.

We are at a point where schools are ineffective in producing people who speak proper English and most people couldn’t be bothered about improving their English proficiency.

Yes, I was part of the system but thank God I made it a point to speak proper English. Mind you, I come from a Chinese school where everyone else speaks Mandarin and Hokkien. I spend my time learning English from books and whatever I can view on TV - no cable TV back then. Only a few channels and the occasional tapes and discs from the video store.

Let’s see how our ENGRAND goes in a few more years.

Football Club Fans are CRAZY….

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

I personally think that football club fans are crazy people.

I’ve just finished watching Champion’s League Final, too bad Chelsea lost. I was hoping for them to win.

Well anyway, as usual after some big game involving either of the major EPL teams, there’s sure going to be some nutters cracking some stuff at lowyat.net forum that I moderate.

As I browse through the threads, such as the one for MU - I begin to feel disgusted at how fans can behave. If they win, vulgarity comes. If they lose, vulgarity comes anyway. I’ve issued quite a few warnings already.

It’s funny I see how people’s loyalty to football clubs can be. There’s just too many examples to cite. Oh well………

Rangers Fans Became Thugs, Over Broken TV?

ARTICLE TO READ

I’m not going to elaborate more of the matter.

Basically, a bunch of football fans (of a particular club, obviously) became thugs, rioting across Manchester and causing huge mess all over the place.

It wasn’t pleasant, I know - I’m Malaysian but I do understand the plight of what the people in Manchester having to face.

Some visitors just don’t know how to respect their host. Simple as that. Shows how shallow some people can be, rioting over what - a broken TV? Just because you can’t view a match? Childish, stupid, ridiculous.

I saw the news over CNN, it was terrible how they attacked a car just because it was there, and how they attacked a policeman and broke his arm. Human? Barbarians would be the better word to describe these people.

Do remember to read the comments on the article in the link above.

As I always said on our local forum Lowyat.net - “Football is beautiful game, it’s the fans that are ugly.”. Even at Lowyatnet, it’s common to see football fans showing evil side of being a human, where name-calling, insults, profanities and whatever else you wouldn’t want to see coming out of anyone’s mouth is all seen.
