Blog Income For August 2007: $17,828.61

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

Well, too bad it’s not mine.

It’s the blog income for John Chow. It’s just that I discovered the post 3 weeks late.

Anyway, have a read at John Chow dot Com Income Report - August 2007 if you’re interested.

Just in case you don’t feel like visiting, here’s part of the article.

Total Blog Income For August 2007: $17,828.61

The amazing thing about the income figure - aside from the number itself - is I set it in the heart the summer. The other amazing thing is it will most likely be broken next month as those private ad spots kick in. Here is the income breakdown.

* Affiliate Sales: $7,244.00
* ReviewMe: $4,200.00
* Private Ad Sales: $2,370.00
* Text Link Ads: $2,157.88
* Kontera: $1,000
* Google AdSense: $490.94
* FeedBurner: $131.18
* Buy Me a Beer: $117.99
* TTZ Media: $66.62
* Subscription: $50.00
* Grand Total: $17,828.61

Blog traffic in August was 337,852 page views from 170,465 visitors. A nice increase from the 319,165 page views posted the month before. RSS subscriptions are at a record high 7,836 readers and should break 8,000 this month. Traffic wise, everything is looking up!

It’s been 3 weeks since he posted and his RSS subscribers were at 8.7k already. :)

Review : roomsDB.net - room rental in Singapore

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

Yes, today we’re having a look at roomsDB.net that caters for room rental in Singapore, regardless whether it’s master room, common room, hdb, condo, apartment - you name it! Everything, including the kitchen sink! What you want to rent delivered right to you, in a central repository of rooms to rent.

Despite being an already successful site, roomsDB.net has also now teamed up with advertlets.com for a new advertising scheme to reach a wider audience.

Instead of just taking my word for it about their success, you could also download a PDF version of an article on roomsDB.net published in Straight Times. Just take note that it’s the file is about 1.4MB so I shall not be responsible if your browser quits on you. :P

Before you think that roomsDB.net is confined only Singapore, think again because roomsDB.net is now available for Kuala Lumpur as well, just that it’s currently in a beta version (which means, you MIGHT not get full features yet but heck who cares!) Well, roomsDB.net - rent a room in KL, this is the place to be for people who’s looking for accommodations in KL.

The Interface : Yes, the actual content area, minus the ads.

roomsDB.net allows you to filter based on room types, district and even sort the order by price, size, address and so on so forth. Just mouse-over any entry and you’ll get more details from the hovering box of information.

And that’s not all, roomsDB.net comes with loads of new features like Google Maps Mashup, RSS feeds, automatic price comparison, closest MRT station search and so on so forth. Convenient isn’t it? I mean look at it, you get all the details in ONE PLACE. You can choose to get updated automatically via RSS instead of having to visit them every day hoping for something new.

While it’s a great site for it’s purpose but certainly not a good looking one. :) The site is flooded with ads, something that I don’t like because it makes it very distracting and rather unpleasant to use. The interface is fine, the viewer just have to take a little time to identify which part of the page is the actual content.

:) For those in Singapore and KL - have fun using roomsDB.net, I’m sure it’s very useful.

Me? Lowyat.net Staff? Unbelievable!

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

It’s nearly 8AM now, I’ve not slept.

I spent the night playing Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (GRAW2), testing out a few heatsinks, trouble-shooting my machine that went nuts for a while, then back go playing GRAW2 again. As usual I haunt various forums and blogs, checking my sites (this one la!) for W3C compliancy (which it FAILED) - I have no idea why as I’m still in the midst of trouble-shooting.

Then I went to Lowyat.net forum (where I was a moderator) and I saw PC Buying Guide thread has a new post. Strange, sHawTY doesn’t post on my thread that often. Upon opening the thread, I realized it was a congratulatory post! I was promoted to STAFF level!!!

Unbelievable!!! It’s really an honor, I’m so speechless - I’ll use text instead. I would like to thank the Admins, Staff, Moderators, Elites, VIPs and the rest of the of Lowyat.net for having faith in me. Thank you very much!

:D Flashing back, I was only a nominal member in 2006.
