Cooler Master Clutch Laptop Holder Review

For those thinking to make their laptops (notebooks, ultrabooks) into a desktop device – you should consider this.

*I used the term Laptop here as that’s what they called it in CM’s online store. I prefer to call them notebooks or mobile computers. :P

Here’s the product itself.

As you can see, the based and the edges are padden so you don’t scratch your table surface and your notebook. The Clutch itself is super solid, weighing in at 636g to ensure stability. You can even use it as a weapon.

Here’s what it looks like, holding the Asus Vivobook X202E. Some notebook configuration doesn’t work too well, for example the Lenovo Ideapad S10-2 with the larger battery wouldn’t fit due to the large battery. Some devices with paddings that stretch across the bottom also may not fit well either.

Visit the official product page for more details.

What the product page doesn’t tell you is that the width of the gap is 25mm, so any notebook bigger than that would not fit while anything that’s much smaller will look awkward. :) Oh and bear in mind – how cool it looks does depend greatly on how you attach the cables to your devices.

Conclusion

Great solid stuff to hold your notebook. It retails at RM 150 and it’s pretty much a luxury item. It’s silver in color so it works well with most table layout (imagine if it was bright pink or yellow). If you have plenty of table real estate then probably you wouldn’t need this.
