The M4A88TD-V EVO (wow, sounds like Mistubishi car eh?) is one of Asus’ latest range of AMD board line-up. This one comes with the 880G chipset and supports CrossfireX setup.
I must say this is one of the nicest looking board in my book.
The PCI-E slots available, 2x PCI-E x16 slots but the CrossfireX runs at x16/x4.
Fancy heatsink for Northbridge.
Fancy heatsink for Southbridge.
I/O panel for the board, lovely host of output.
More details can be found on the official product page.
Take note of the features such as
– Turbo Unlocker – On Demand Real Time CPU Boost
– Core Unlocker – Intelligently Unlocks True Core Performance
– Turbo Key II – Switch on the Potential, Turn up the Performance!
– GPU Boost – Instant iGPU Level Up!
– TurboV EVO – The Ultimate O.C. Processor
– USB 3.0 & SATA 6Gb/s support
As you can see, it’s all Overlock here. I tried the core unlocker but unfortunately my processor isn’t one of those blessed with additional hidden core.
Seeing more and more of these OCing tools, I know that they work. In the end I dive straight in to manually overclocking my AMD Athlon II X3 425 and surprisingly it went up to 3.7Ghz stable! I haven’t been able to do so on my 790FX board that I acquired recently.
All in all it’s a good board, too bad for the x4 PCI-E when the 2nd PCI-E card is placed. I wish it was x8 / x8 for my folding@home purpose. One thing for sure is that I really like that it comes with an onboard graphic system which is the ATI Radeon HD 4250 – really handy for those who only need processing power and good enough for some gaming at really low details.
The board is retailing at about RM 390 and for the features you get, it’s well worth it! Couple it with an AMD Athlon II X3 435 and it’s a great setup already.
