Launch of Malaysia's First WiMAX-Ready 4G Laptops with Intel and P1

This event was held on 29th June, marking the entry of WiMAX (4G) capable laptops in the Malaysian market. By the way, pardon me for the rather late entry due to the busy schedule for work.

Held at Sunway Resort Hotel’s 15th floor (in Sunway hotel, 5th floor is pretty much like the 4ft floor above the lobby)

Look at the crowd! The event was more grand that I had expected.

Ms. Debjani Ghosh, South East Asia Director of Intel Corporations, gave an informative presentation on how the the Internet is part and parcel of our lives, and how it has evolved through the ages and of course, how this technology from Intel (Centrino now refers to the COMMUNICATIONS part of the system) help in bridging the gap in communication.

This was followed by a fiery speech by Mr. Michael Lai, CEO of Packet 1 Networks Sdn. Bhd.

And after that, the launch gambit and photo opportunity.

My Thoughts

With the embedded device for 4G networks, it makes like a lot easier without having to lug around a USB device to establish Internet connection.

I do remember P1 and Intel did mention about the price of the laptops would be a little on the high side during our meet up a week earlier but that’s always the case when it comes to new features, right?

Eventually the prices will drop and we’re sure to see more devices to come with embedded WiMAX capability.

Besides getting Intel’s quality component in such laptops, keep an eye out for possible value deals from P1 WiMAX for buyers of such WiMAX (4G) capable laptops.

P1 is becoming bigger huh? But that’s a nice thing, we need more competitions among our ISPs.

[...] It’s 2010 now and technology has advanced so much that the 4G (wimax) networks such as those from P1 are now accessible without having to resort to using any external device as before. Such mobile computers have just entered the market here in Malaysia now that notebooks come with Intel technology that allows 4G connectivity. [...]
