goldfries.com was setup to feature the PC Buying Guide, a simple guide designed to help people who are clueless about setting up a PC.

Besides the PC Buying Guide, goldfries.com also feature reviews, guides and articles that are aimed at helping people in their daily computing-related routine.

The reviews, guides and articles at goldfries.com help readers by educating them. As people learn about available technology, they are able to implement what they learned to improve their lifestyle. It’s wise to implement technology to improve lifestyle.

What da heck is goldfries?

goldfries is the nickname that I (founder of the site, writer of the articles) use on the Internet.

I once was a contributor to TechArp (Formerly known as Adrian’s Rojak Pot) and I’m currently still part of TechArp, internationally known for their BIOS Optimization Guide. I’m also part of the moderating crew at Lowyat.NET, Malaysia’s Tech Enthusiast Resource Community.

Why goldfries as the domain name?

I have to admit, the site was originally setup to be a personal website but it grew to be something more than that.

Do you consider yourself a blogger?

That depends on how you define the words ‘blog’ and ‘blogger’.

I consider myself a writer. Being a web designer and programmer as well, I harnessed the power of blog engine to present my articles. It makes it easier for me to publish my articles by not having to hard-code while my readers enjoy better quality articles. In goldfries.com , perhaps I am actually a writer more than a blogger per-se but it’s easier to say “I’m a blogger” than I’m a writer when I already have a blog.

Why don’t you post every day?

I’m not a ‘full-time blogger’. I don’t post news taken from other sites. I don’t post nonsense that does not in any way educate you or improve your life. Every single article in this site was made to enlighten the unenlightened.

Even if I was a full-time blogger, I still won’t be posting daily. I believe that articles should be spaced out to allow more attention to each, it will also be better for the preparation process for each article as contents are not rushed.

Your articles are very simple

Firstly, I’m far from being the best writer in the world, and certainly not anywhere close to being an elite writer. Nevertheless I’m not incapable of writing and neither do I have problem presenting what I have in mind in written form.

Secondly, the articles were written with lay-people in mind and I always make sure my articles are simple enough for them to digest.

Thirdly, I personally don’t like to delve too deep into technical details, neither do I wish to bore people with it.

Why are there no ratings in your hardware reviews! Why?

If an item works as it should, why should it be penalized?

For example, if a processor was stripped of it’s L2 Cache and sold at a lower price. Is it justified to penalize it just for the lack of L2 Cache? I don’t think it is, as long as the product works as it should, it’s fine for me.

Some times reviews are ridiculous. Price the item cheap with a bit of stripped-down features, the negatives would be the stripped features. Price it high with better features, then price would be the negative point. So it’s like WTH?!?! You’re not pleased with anything, so you need performance of a quad-core processor at the price of a budget processor to get a perfect score? Haha. Even if it did happen, they’ll probably complain about the heat generated and the not-so-good stock cooler.
